This summer my daughter turned 7 and then 3 weeks later so did her cousin! My daughter's cake didn't turn out at ALL how I'd planned...my kids cakes usually turn out awful - it's like some strange curse or something! However, there are parts of it that I liked. My neice's cake turned out just how she wanted it (chosen from a cake magazine)...so I'm pretty proud of it! :o) Anywho - here they both are!

Wedding Cupcakes
This past weekend we attended my brother-in-law's wedding. I wish I could say that I made their beautiful wedding cake - but a friend of the bride's made it! However...funny story... the cake ended up imploding (more or less) and the baker ended up making this -beautiful- FAKE cake! So - it's gorgeous (even if it wasn't what the bride actually wanted) - but the bride and groom had nothing to cut into! So, I decided to make them a couple cupcakes so they could do the traditional feed/smash eachother for pictures. I had none of my cake stuff with me (in-laws live about 5 hours away from us)... so I had to make do with what was available. I made vanilla cupcakes with a purple colored center. Buttercream/lemon frosting with purple roses and pansies on top. (No purple food coloring available - so I had to make it with red and blue liquid food coloring! Haven't used liquid colors in a LONG time!) I definitely missed all my handy-dandy tools and stuff - but it was a fun adventure!
(They look ridiculous and pathetic next to the gigantic fake cake!!)
In the end - I was glad I did it... the pictures of the bride and groom were worth it!
They looked so innocent feeding eachother the cupcakes in the above picture! If only my camera worked fast enough to get detailed shots of just how hard they shoved them! haha!
I didn't get a good picture of the bride - but this one shows the groom with some of the frosting/cupcake left on his face.
Nothing as sweet as a cupcake flavored kiss! ;o)

RN Grad Cake
This is a cake I made for a friend graduating from CSN's RN Program!
It had the names of a couple of her friends who were also graduating on it along with some things that remind me of nursing.
The bottom tier was white cake with a strawberry filling.
The middle cake was a white oreo cake with oreos as the filling.
The top tier was cinnamon cake with a chocolate cinnamon filling.

Simple Rose Cake
Here is a cake I made back in May for my sister-in-law's birthday! It was a scrumptious red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting as the filling and buttercream on the outside.

Ladybug Cupcakes
These cupcakes were made for a baby shower. I was given a picture to pattern the cupcakes after. It is kind of a new and different take on the typical ladybug theme - no red in sight!
The little ladybugs were made from starbursts and chocolate (the only thing not edible is the antenae)
Ladybugs and chocolate flowers
White cupcakes with strawberry bavarian cream inside; frosted with baby pink frosting
The finished cupcake with the ladybug, flower and leaf
All 24 cupcakes ready to go!

Rose Wedding
Had the opportunity to make the largest cake I've done yet! The bride wanted the cake to match certain colors and to have some of the details from the napkins she was using. She wanted the cake to be unique!
The bottom 11x15 tier was white cake with strawberries and cream filling. The middle 10" circle tier is chocolate cake with white chocolate cream cheese filling. The top 6" square tier is carrot cake with cream cheese filling. The additional cake is an 11x15 chocolate sheet cake with chocolate frosting/filling.
Here are some of the pictures of the cake's progression.

Rapunzel Tower Cake
Today is my "baby's" 4th birthday!! She is very into everything princess - and has fallen in love with Disney's new movie Tangled. She loves Rapunzel - so that was the theme of her party! Of course her cake had to go right along with the theme!
(Pictures didn't turn out so well - I had a lot going on!)
Tower was made out of rice krispies! The kids ate the cupcake "bushes"!
I decided not to make a Rapunzel out of fondant - and bought one instead!
My lil princess blowing out her candles!
